   6 Open Network Automation Platform

   9 Open Network Automation Platform (ONAP) is an open source project hosted by
  10 the Linux Foundation.

  12 ONAP provides a comprehensive platform for real-time, policy-driven service
  13 orchestration and automation. ONAP enables service providers and developers
  14 to rapidly automate the instantiation and configuration of physical and
  15 virtual network functions and to support complete life cycle management
  16 activities. By unifying the resources of open source members, ONAP enables
  17 the acceleration of the development of a vibrant ecosystem around a globally
  18 shared architecture and the implementation of network automation faster than
  19 any product could on its own.

  21 The ONAP Platform architecture is built on the highly efficient cooperation of
  22 Design-time Framework activities with the functions provided by the
  23 Run-time Framework. The Design-time Framework defines resources, services
  24 and products, creates and manages processes and policies, provides a single
  25 platform for deploying and defining instantiation management besides many
  26 other activities. The Run-time framework manages the full lifecycle of
  27 networks, services, resources, topology, orchestrates delivery, provides
  28 monitoring via analytics and controls activities for applications and
  29 virtual functions.

  31 ONAP platform activities are supported by the Microservices support
  32 system and by the ONAP Portal.
