  16 Purpose

  19 - The purpose of these requirements is to accelerate adoption of VNF or PNF
  20   best practices which will increase innovation, minimize customization needed
  21   to onboard VNFs or PNFs as well as reduce implementation complexity, time and
  22   cost for all impacted stakeholders.
  23 - The consolidated requirements provide common VNF or PNF requirements across
  24   the industry in order to drive interoperability, simplify management, and
  25   reduce cost to build, deploy and manage VNFs or PNFs.
  26 - These requirements serve multiple purposes:
  27     - Primarily it provides a detailed list of requirements for VNF or PNF
  28       providers to meet to be compatible with ONAP; VNF or PNF providers will
  29       use the VNF or PNF requirements to build VNFs/PNFs that are compatible
  30       with ONAP.
  31     - It can also serve as a list of requirements that service providers can
  32       use in RFPs for selecting VNFs/PNFs.
  33     - It will also be used as a basis for testing and certification of
  34       VNFs or PNFs for compliance with ONAP; ONAP projects such as the VNF
  35       Validation Project will uses these VNFs or PNFs requirements to build
  36       test cases to validate VNFs or PNFs for compliance with ONAP.
